Cultural visit: Pays de la Loire Regional Council

The UCO Alumni Network invites you to an exclusive visit of the Pays de la Loire Regional Council, in Nantes, with the Vice-President of the Regional Council and alumna UCO, Claire Hugues (Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics in Computer Science,1997) on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 1pm to 3pm.

 

Deliberative assembly of the region, made up of regional councillors elected by direct universal suffrage, the Regional Council's mission is to manage regional policies mainly in the following areas: economic development, transport, land-use planning...

 

Program for the visit:

  • Welcome by Claire Hugues, Vice-president of the Regional Council and Mayor of Pornic
  • Presentation of the history and architecture of the Hôtel de Région
  • Discussions in the hemicycle with the elected representative and alumna

Claire HUGUES
Vice-Chairman of the Pays de la Loire Regional Council / Mayor of Pornic

Claire Hugues graduated with a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the UCO in 1997. After a career in IT, she was elected municipal councilor of Pornic in 2008 and then first deputy mayor in 2014. The following year, she became a regional councilor and was elected 11th Vice President of the Pays de la Loire Regional Council, in charge of Maritime Affairs. She is a member of the Committee on Economy, Agriculture, Agri-Food Industries, Fishing, Employment, Continuing Education, Higher Education and Research, International Affairs, and Digital Technology. Claire Hugues also is the Mayor of Pornic since July 16, 2024.
