Charles Le Navennec, IFEPSA license (2016), physical trainer and reathletizer
A graduate of the IFEPSA degree program at the Université catholique de l'Ouest (Vannes campus), Charles Le Navennec is a physical trainer and reathletizer based in Saumur.
In this interview for UCO Alumni, she shares her academic and professional background.
Could you tell us about your university career?
I began my postgraduate studies in sports science at UCO Vannes in the EDS stream in 2016. I then pursued my academic career by joining IFEPSA's Master 2SER program, during which I obtained a Licence APA-S as part of a double degree program in the first year. J’ai également eu l’opportunité de valider un DU « soins de terrains et urgences en milieu sportif ». Enfin, depuis la fin de mon parcours universitaire, j’ai réalisé et validé plusieurs formations et certifications complémentaires.
What have you gained from your training?
Cette formation en sciences du sport m’a apporté de solides connaissances scientifiques dans le domaine de l’entrainement. The multi-disciplinary nature of the content provided me with a holistic approach to athlete management. - What were the "plusses" of your training? The support we've had over the years, and the close contact with our teachers (and small classes), mean that our training takes place in optimal conditions. The Master's research project is also a major asset when it comes to entering the professional world.
What can you tell us about your experience at IFEPSA?
IFEPSA is an establishment that encourages exchanges with all those involved (teachers, students) and has all the resources needed to train future professionals. I would recommend IFEPSA to any student wishing to work in the sports world.
What is your professional situation? What do you do?
I'm currently a physical trainer and reathletizer. I work for the Institut Français du Cheval et de l'Équitation in Saumur, where I'm in charge of preparing and monitoring riders in training, Cadre Noir equestrians and riders at the French Eventing youth center. I also work on behalf of the Fédération Française d'Équitation to monitor riders in the French Dressage and Paradressage teams with a view to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
What advice would you give to a student?
University training is a solid foundation, so I think that personal research work and additional training are essential for integration and professional performance. This additional work is an asset for specializing and approaching training from different angles.
