Dialogos #5: silence
Université catholique de l'Ouest presents its fifth issue of Dialogos magazine, dedicated to popularizing science and research, with a focus on silence.
In a world saturated with sound and visual stimuli, silence is of paramount importance. It offers a precious break in the incessant flow of time, allowing us to reconnect with the essential and with ourselves. For some, however, silence can be a source of anxiety, leading to fears and difficult introspection.
As in previous issues, Dialogos magazine brings together UCO faculty and external experts to collectively explore the many facets of silence. From its etymology to its role in our lives and in religions, not forgetting its evolutions and meanings, every aspect is scrutinized.
This issue features several sections:
- An interview with Éric Fottorino, novelist, journalist and former editor of Le Monde, who shares his views on silence.
- A dossier exploring silence as a revealing entity of our paradoxes, fears and the social dysfunctions that arise when noise fades.
- The "Entre vues" section examines the politics of silence and its role.
- "Cogito" looks at silence in religious practice.
- Finally, "Pop Culture" looks at the presence of silence in the work of Albert Camus.
