Neuroscience and pedagogy: the 4 pillars of learning

Discovering Stanislas DEHAENE's 4 pillars of learning: attention, active engagement, error feedback and consolidation
The aim of this workshop/conference is to discover, in a fun and interactive way, the four main factors that promote successful learning. We will draw on the work of Stanislas Dehaene, Professor at the Collège de France, cognitive psychologist and neuroscientist. We'll be looking at attention, active engagement, error feedback and consolidation, four fundamental elements that make up what he calls the "four pillars of learning".

As a lecturer and researcher in cognitive and experimental psychology, and Director of UCO la Réunion, my research work lies at the crossroads of Cognitive Psychology and Educational Sciences, both of which are now part of the wider field of Neuroscience. The aim of my research is twofold: on the one hand, to better understand how individuals (children and adults) acquire, store and use their knowledge, and on the other, to ensure that assessment is taken into account as a means of consolidating knowledge in the process of acquisition.

I also defend the idea that cognition must be embodied: "the body as a vector of learning".
