Dialogos #6: Adventure

02 October 2024 Alumni Portraits

UCO is publishing the sixth issue of Dialogos, its magazine dedicated to popularizing science and research, this time focusing on the theme of adventure.

As in previous editions, Dialogos brings together UCO teacher-researchers and external experts to explore the many facets of the subject. This issue looks at the etymology of the word "adventure", entrepreneurial adventure, adventure stories, role-playing games and inner adventure.

A special section (page 14) is devoted to the story of Vanessa Cherruau, former student turned winegrower. She took over Château de Plaisance in Rochefort-sur-Loire, with its twenty-five hectares of vines, mainly Chenin, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. With a degree in information and communications (obtained in 2008 from the UCO Angers campus), she changed course to enter the world of wine. "Because wine is about sectors, culture, gastronomy, geography, agronomy, the environment... It's a world you've never been able to get your head around".

A number of appointments are featured in this issue.

Explorer Mike Horn shares his experience and his conception of adventure.

Le Dossier explores adventure in all its forms, one that is no longer just synonymous with epic explorations, but is also experienced on a daily basis, mobilizing our emotions and imaginations. Entre vues looks at a major technological adventure of today and tomorrow: artificial intelligence; Cogito sheds light on the psychoanalytical experience; while Pop culture revisits the epic of Ulysses.
