Coline Bouin (master LARISP, 2024)

03 March 2025 Alumni Portraits

Coline Oger graduated from the Languages, International Relations and Political Strategies (LARISP) master's program at UCO Angers in 2024.

She currently works as a parliamentary assistant for two senators in the Maine-et-Loire region.

Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your career?

I am 23 years old and have been working as a parliamentary assistant for two senators in the Maine-et-Loire region since September 2024. I started this job following my studies. With a Master's degree in Foreign Languages, International Relations and Political Science, I did my second year of work-study with the Majority Group of the Maine-et-Loire Departmental Council, where I met the senators I'm currently working for.

Why did you choose to study the LEA master's program at UCO?

Following my degree in economics and management, with a specialization in marketing, at the Faculté d'Angers Saint-Serge, I decided to go into political science. I joined the LARISP master's program. I'd been interested in this master's program since high school, because it seemed to be varied and covered geopolitical and international issues. What's more, I was convinced by the opportunity to do a work-study programme as part of this master's program! I found it very professionalizing.

What's your best memory of UCO?

I think it's hard to choose between our simulation of a diplomatic summit on the subject of prostitution in Europe and our university trip to Brussels, during which we were able to visit the European institutions! In both cases, these events enabled us to forge links with other students in the class, meet talented and exciting people in their respective fields and, above all, learn!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The diversity of the subjects I have to think about. The senators I work for do not belong to the same committees (Finance Committee and Social Affairs Committee). This enables me to deal with a wide variety of issues.

What are the main challenges of your mission?

You have to keep yourself as informed as possible. This means keeping a close eye on the local, national and even international press. And don't forget to keep a close eye on what's happening on social networks, so you don't miss out on important information.

What advice would you give to a student wishing to work in your field?

Working in this field requires, I think, a kind of audacity. You mustn't hesitate to show yourself off and make yourself known to the various players in the sector. But don't forget the golden rules: humility, discretion and respect. And above all, stay true to yourself!
